John is 2 years old

John William Monk was 2 years old on January 11th 2007, exactly 2 years after his birth here in Phuket in 2005. Jamie (his father) and Jurirat (his mother) wonder where the time has gone. I am reaching the time of life when I really wish time would slow down. You only have this time once. John will only be 2 once. Jessica will only be 5 once. I spend way too much time working and sometimes I feel I don't have enough time for my family. I imagine many people feel the same at some point in life.

We had a little party for John a couple of days after his birthday and invited the usual suspects. It was not a huge party like we had for Jessicas 5th, but then John is not at school yet, so we have less friends to invite! He'll start school in 2008.

We are so lucky to have John and Jessica. I really must not moan about working. After all, we are living in Thailand, not Grimsby (sorry to any Grimsby-lovers), life is actually sweet.

January 2007

These photos were all taken on 7th January at Nai Yang and Layan beaches in the North West of Phuket. I did a thing about Nai Yang already on the Phuket Blog, and will do something about Layan if we go there again. Weather was not great last weekend! We like this area of Phuket and had never been to Layan beach before - a lovely place.

 
 
 
 

 

Happy New Year!

The Monks of Thailand would like to wish you all a very happy 2007. We have had a long year so it seems. Let's not beat about the bush - looking after 2 kids is no picnic! Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's wonderful, but it is often tiring. Jessica and John like to play around, though Jessica is getting older and slightly more sensible. John just copies whatever she does/says - so if she calms down, he will be a good boy too. Mostly he is very sweet, and Jessica now sits and does her homework like a good girl..you know?

She was horrid

You'd never know it from these photos! We love our kids, we are very happy and 2007 is full of promise....
