Jessica's 6th Birthday Party

Last Saturday we had a mega party at our house. Mam reckons there were 64 people here (adults + kids), which beat last years 5th birthday party by nearly 20! And we were missing at least 15 who came last year, but not this year!

It started quietly and became a bit of a blur. I took some photos, but was rather busy making sure all the guests were OK. I had to dash to the local shop a couple of times to buy ice and beer.

So, Jessica is 6 now. I keep telling her that she's a big girl now, so should be acting a bit more sensibly. She passed all her school tests recently very easily, she asks me every night to read "Peter and Jane" ( I bought her 3 more books for her birthday), so I think we can make a studious nerd out of her yet :) After all, we are a family of nerds, right?

There now follows some party photos, and photos of family before the party. It's taken us a week to recover from it!

Jessica is 6 Years Old!

A lot can happen in a month, especially when you have kids. John is chattering away like there's no tomorrow. He picks up words every day. Jessica is enjoying reading Peter and Jane books and enjoying school. Just last week she was 6 years old. We had a big party at our house last weekend and a private family meal on her birthday (24th July). Jamie had a week off work, just hanging around at home, getting visa and work permit renewed, and even having a few moments to relax in the garden. We're all a bit tired this week after lots of parties!

I have oceans of photos from the last month or so. These are found below in the next few blog posts...

Up Buddha Mountain - The Big Buddha

Up on a hill not too far from where we live, a huge Buddha statue is being built. The building has been going on for years and is slowly reaching completion. We like to go up the hill for the views, the fresh air and that "closer to God" feeling :)

A visit to Kathu Waterfall

There's not a lot of water at the local waterfall, but one day last month when it had been raining almost all day, we went for a quick walk in the afternoon.

I wrote about it on Jamie's Phuket: Kathu Waterfall

A few photos of our garden

This time of year is known by some as the "Green Season" since it rains quite a bit..although the sun shines much of the time and in fact I reckon the summer months are a great time to come here. Our garden has been blooming recently...
