Songkran!!!

Songkran - Thai New Year - April 13th. In case you don't know, Thailand used to have a different calendar to "us". In fact, in official documents the year is still based on the Buddhist Calendar, but the year does now change on January 1st (since 1940). if you check Mam's ID card you'll see she was born in 2519.

Anyway, Songkran has a watery element which used to be limited to sprinkling water on your elders or on Buddha images. The modern version is a massive water fight. You can see lots of photos I took this year here: Songkran 2008.

Aside from driving around and taking photos we had a family Songkran. We cleaned our Buddha shelf, we washed the image of King Rama V, and later we let John and Jessica play with as much water as they could handle :)
